Clarification on 0-60 - 1/4 times?
Hey guys,
I was browsing the 0-60 times for MY03 and came across several websites that all seem to say the same.
"2000 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 5.7 Quarter mile 14.0
2003 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 6.2 Quarter mile 14.7 (Manual)
2004 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 5.7 Quarter mile 14.0
2006 Honda S2000 0-60 mph 5.4 Quarter mile 13.8
2008 Honda S2000 CR 0-60 mph 5.6 Quarter mile 14.2"
What makes the 03' slower of all other years? And what's in the 00' ?! 14.0 Quarter Mile?
Thanks for any input.

Different drivers, different media reporting (MTrend vs C&D etc), different climate conditions, altitude, electronics measuring the data, tire conditions....mainly the driver
Way too many variables to list...don't be concerned, the '03 is just as quick as the other model years. 0-60 times in publication is a waste in my opinion. Gives you a good idea, but certainly should not be etched in stone. Same as manufacturer claims.

Kind of off topic but I think 0-60 in general is pretty meaningless....manufacturers sometimes set gearing specifically to register better 0-60 times (avoiding a 2nd to 3rd shift for example). I'd just enjoy your car and know it's as quick as any other MY.

To the OP, the person driving will make a lot more difference than the difference in one number and the next. It doesn't matter. If the stig drove a MY03 with a passenger in it against captain slow in a CR with no passenger, the stig might handily get a better 0-60 and 1/4 mile time simply because he is a better driver. Or if the MY03 was on a great track and the CR was on a lousy one. Or if the weather was better. Or... you get the picture.
Evidence is not always conclusive evidence.

Put it this way... the S2000 is a notoriously difficult car to launch... It can be done stock at 13.7-13.8 with the right conditions and someone who knows how to launch it perfectly. Average driver probably does it in 14-14.2.
S2000 isn't a 0-60 or 1/4 mile car anyways. It's a track monster.
