Default Clear corner plea

My quest for clear corners is turning into a crusade. If I could ask for one thing before I die, it's to get clear corners on my S2k. Here's my sad tale.

11/01 - Bought my MY2002 S2k

12/01 - Ordered EDM lights from (now defunct?) MG racing for about $900

2/02 - Got the lights and had them installed, but the turn signal socket didn't fit so the shop wouldn't keep them in (for liability reasons - damn lawyers)

3/02 - Got the EDM turn signal sockets

4/02 - Had the lights reinstalled but they couldn't be adjusted properly so they had to be taken out (again).

5/02 until now - Searching aimlessly for a solution. Giving up on the EDMs, toying with the idea of doing it myself even though I am not mechanically inclined and have no place to do the work.

I have a feeling that if I did it myself, something would go wrong. After all of this, I'd end up paying over $900 for an S2K with no headlights.

Any suggestions (besides suicide)?

Bryan

Find someone that's done it before and in not more than 1 1/2 hours later you'll be done and clear headlights will be your forever. It's not that bad..........

Oh and I forgot to mention that when storing my EDM lights, they got some dust or dirt inside of them. I tried to clean them out which ended up ruining them. So i"m out the $900 regardless...

Wow! The path to cleared headlights is wrought with havoc and expense! Have you considered getting out the old stock headlights and just clearing them following the most detailed instructions in a thread on this site? Also, you can get the translucent replacement lens from Rick's if you don't want the completely "naked" look.
ps. I'll keep the amber lenses, thanks. But that's just me.

No...no you're not. This is very simple. I know you say you're not mechanically inclined, but you don't have to be.

Just open the EDM headlamps (with the well known oven method) and take out the clear corners. Then open up your original headlamps and replace those orange reflectors with those. That should work, and you wont have to worry about all the electrical hoo ha. It's very simple, I'm sure someone could do it for you.

I think Autechre has said a very smart thing! Do what he said! Getting the lights out is the hard part (taking apart the car) doing the clearing once the lights are out is a piece of cake. I don't know where larkspur is, but you could see if some other Californian's are getting together for clearing...We did this in Sacramento, and go and join the clearing get together.

i really don't think u need to be mechanically inclined to do this mod.. this is very much prying and messing around.. the instructions that are on this site are great... i mean if ricers in civics can do it with their headlights, we can do it with ours... but then again, i've heard ppl with civics open up theirs with their bare hands..

Just curious.... what did you use when attempting to clean, that ruined the lights?
