Have you ever seen a boat with an enclosed bimini top? That's what you're talking about here - a solid vinyl/plastic sheet. Just OK optical quality (not great even when clean), but they tend to flap in the breeze. I don't even want to think how that looks when it needs to fold away nicely. You need a top material that's woven to make it strong and tight, and even if constructed it from a clear vinyl/plastic fiber you wouldn't be able to see through the woven fabric.

I have seen exactly what you are talking about on a MG (same one) a couple times, it was just as clear as it could be except for the support beams. I also agree, it would be hella hot in there.

Despite the fact that a solar powered flashlight now exists. It used to be an oxymoron. The thought here is that though the top is generally used during wet or cold weather, the flip side is that it is also used during warm or hot weather.

If you had a clear top during hot weather it would let the sun in and make the car hotter hence the oxymoron.

Actually, there is rumor of a clear S2000 top in the 3rd installment of F&F called "The Fast and the Clearious".

Wouldn't this make you feel like an ant under a magnifying glass?
