Default Clearing dash lights

Alright since no one has tried this or at least made a big deal about it I figured I would post about clearing all the dash lights so when you change the gauges they will match. So first i pulled the car apart and got the instument panel out sorry dont have pics of it right now I'm at work workin hard . Anyway next i started tinkering with the heat control side i found out its actualy real easy to remove the orange filters in most of the places.

I started with the nobs at first i didnt think the would come off i was pulling on the things pretty hard finaly they came off. Under the nob there is just a little peice of orange plastic witch you can see inside the nob in the picture below. I just used a screw driver to pop it out on both of the nobs.

Also there is one of these in the fan switch you can see it in the top right of the picture it looks like one of those butterfly bandages.

Now this is where i got to and got pissed anyone that has done this before and found a solution please chime in. From the back of the panel i used a pencil to push the peice with the graphics for heat, defroster and all that stuff on it out. Like the rest of the stuff i figured there would be another color filter on it but honda got tricky and the pics are painted on. So what i am going to try is putting a peice of colored material behind each picture and it should change the look and i'm hoping that it doesnt make them to dull when the lights are on.

After i got this far i gave up for the night and went out to the bar . When i get home from work today i will see if my idea works for changing the color of the pictures. Also i forgot to add on some of the bulbs there are orange caps i pulled these off as well and am looking for blue ones. If anyone was looking to change it to green on the cruse control switch there is a single green cap so i am guessing you can order green ones from honda. I will be also changing the LED's out for blue and white ones i'll post that later gotta run to radio shack later too.

To lazy to write up more about this project now so i will just post some final pics. I think i am going to pull it all apart again and change the filters and bulbs to something better but this gives an idea.

My new tach that fades from white to red as it gets closer to redline

It looks alot better in person. The pics mess up the colors the thing i like about it most is with the lights on in the day you can see the spedo and tach.

To revive a really really really dead old thread:

The LED behind my "CH" button went out a couple days ago. I'd like to take the black panel off (as in this thread... but on the other side obviously). Any tips on how to take this off without breaking anything? It looks like the black panel itself should simply come off.
