You just have to be careful, especially on the inside. Don't touch the inside of the lens, oil from your fingers will collect dust. If you got the silicone on the outside, try denatured alcohol, it's safe for the plastic. I had a few smudges on the outside, none on the inside. The ones on the outside came off fairly easily.
