clicking noise while jacking up car
i was jacking up my car today and i noticed the rear has a clicking noise while raising it. is this normal? i think it could be because the e-brake is engaged? i jacked it up with the e-brake engaged and in neutral. is this the correct way? or do i need to be in gear also? thanks.
edit: this is using the scissor jacks jacking up one wheel at a time.

bump.. i also got another question, i tried locating the front jacking point. there are 2 behind the front wheel, i used the one closest to the front wheel, is this wrong? i just searched and can't really find any posts on it. i just read that u are supposed to use the 2nd jack point behind the front wheel? did i damage anything?
clicking noise? you are probably hearing it from the jack itself not the car. having your ebrake engaged or the car in gear won't affect you raising the car up. but if your ebrake is engaged the rear wheels wont spin and you can't change your brake pads.
my guess is the jack itself not the car. also invest in one of those SUV jacks that you can pump...much easier and safer.

i mean the only other possible thing would be the springs but i doubt that. try raising your jack really slow and listen closely to see if it makes the sound. if it does unwind a little bit and try again and listen carefully. 99% sure it's the jack though.

I have a similar problem, but I know for sure its my jack. It makes a clicking/popping noise and I "think" the jack is lowering by a little bit every time it's doing that. Anybody else knows what the deal is?
To be safe, I always use couple jack stand just in case the jack lift decided to go out for no reason.
