Closing the Circle
Only the most seasoned s2ki.com veterans will remember me, but I used to come around here a lot after I got my '00 S2000. I just wanted to drop by to tell the story of how my S2000 ownership came to an end.
A few years ago, I got fed up with owning this car in NYC. My parking garage kept nicking the bumpers and doors, and even flooded the car in waist-deep water once. Cabs kept hitting me at stop lights. Etc., etc.
So I packed up the Honda and shipped it back to my family's garage in Washington State. I bought Jeep Wrangler for the city. It was odd adjusting from a 9000rpm i4 to 45000 rpm v6. I did not hesitate to enlist the Jeep's healthy torque to push one or two cabbies out of my way. Revenge is sweet.
Meanwhile, the poor S2000 sat neglected in a driveway in Seattle. So sad, to think of such a great car in such poor conditions. My family kept it clean and running and the last few times I saw it, it looked and drove great.
A few weeks ago, I learned that someone had broken into the S2k overnight. They stole tail lights, seats and an AEM intake. GEICO totalled the car, mainly because the seats were not replaceable for less than $5000 (or something similar).
Anyway, there you have it. I sold the Jeep a while back, so I'm once again a true New Yorker. Don't worry though, I'm sure I'll pick up another Honda some day not too far off. It was sure fun while it lasted!

Oh yeah. $21K, I think. Not bad at all, as far as I'm concerned. Heh-- I paid cash for the car in 1999, so I had basically written it off as a trade in.
