Default Cloth Soft Top

With all of our tops ripping, I feel like maybe the vinyl could be the culprit? My mom has a mini cooper wth a cloth top and that thing has lasted forever!

What are your opinions on it? Stick to vinyl? Has anyone ever used the soft top?
Please post pictures if you can!

Tops only rip for those that do not take precautions.

If your top is clean and does not have tears make sure you apply Tear-Aid Type B vinyl patches in the usual spots and also put felt padding on the frame rails that cause the tear.

I've seen cars with the original cloth top and original straps that lower all the way, only because of the precautions and care the owners took.

i wish the owner before me knew this...
my top is in pretty bad condition when i first got it.

the patches were on the out side and it just caused it to rip even more. so i siliconed it with
a patch and bought some rag top.

now my top is good and it looks like it will last at lest a year or two in colorado weather

cloth my be easier to maintain but its just the amount of work you want to put in it

i had Miata with cloth top and it was nightmare to maintain - dirt sticks to it; cat's hairs and trees' wax are impossible to remove.

I got on my friends audi tt quattro convertible and they had freakin high quality vinyl soft tops... How come Honda doesn't come with these on!!! Totally leak free and the road noise is noticeably less. That was just 1 thing that i was jealous of.

Seriously? Have you compared the instructions for the cloth top cleaners and protectants? It's much more hassle than vinyl. Perhaps you meant "more durable"?

The S's vinyl top's not the problem. The S'stop frame is.

i bought online from a seller that no longer offers them ...but i'm sure there are some ppl that still ...not sure where though , best of luck , well , well worth it ...i'll see what kind of top I have or the manufacture of it ...I'd highly recommend you find whats offered and ask for a sample before purchase ...when U see high quality cloth over oem tops ...you'll run to buy one ...I did ...it was the best "mod" yet !!!

I agree.
Watch the videos from raggtopp and you'll be glad the s2k came with a vinyl top.
