I'm looking at a 2001 s2k

I'm looking into finally purchasing my first s2000. I thought I found the one I wanted but after checking the Carfax I'm thinking it's too good to be true.

End of 2007 - 75k miles
Today - 83k

How hard is it to rollback the miles on an s2000?


Apologies if this is in the wrong spot, I tried searching and had no luck.

That's not too uncommon for a car like the s to be a garage queen. A client on mine said he's put about 500 miles on his car this year.

Also, I would imagine its a bit more tricky to roll back a digital odo than the older analog ones.

I wouldn't be too concerned if the car is in good shape.

I thought for years 2000-2005 the mileage was stored in the gauge cluster; so one could essentially "rollback" the miles by simply swapping the cluster for a lower mileage cluster. Right?

My 2002 was purchased in 2011 with only 29k miles.

Low km garage queen cars still exist out there, I wouldn't worry about it unless it has been noted in the report that the mileage was tampered with.

as said already, i wouldnt worry about it, i bought mine in 2013 with 18k on the clock. garage queen ftw!!!

Welcome! Check to see if there are annual maintenance records that include the mileage. I bought my '05 this spring with only 6200 miles on it and I think I only have about 6600 on it now. The original owner drove the car about 1,000 miles per year for the first few years and then less than 500 miles per year. In his final year of ownership, it was under 100 miles based on oil change receipts.

For many of us, the S2K is a 2nd or 3rd car - only coming out on nice, top-down days, for relatively short drives.

I've put more miles on my S in ONE DAY ..then you have in OMG 8yrs ...plzzz sell me your car ,it really needs a new home

I didn't think people still rolled back cars like the old days when cars had mechanical counters.

Think that's typical of cars that are not DDs in a colder climate
