My s2k only has about 36k on it and I hear the clutch whizzing and whistling when I leave it in gear and apply the brakes to slow down. The RPMs will fall, but if I rev it up to aroundf 8500 and leave it in gear, while the revs are slowing down - theres some sort of high pitched as if to say whining noise. I live in Brooklyn, NY and I'm wary that they'll try to sell me a new clutch when one isnt needed.

ANY SUGGESTIONS???

 

This is very common, if you want, do a search on "decel buzz" and see if the descriptions given match your symptoms. If it seems similar it is probably nothing to worry about, just annoying. Honda came out with a new clutch disc in 2002 to prevent this but a) it may have been after your car b) it didn't fix the problem. Most just live with it until the clutch starts slipping and needs replacing.
