The noise you are hearing is most likely not clutch-related at all. What your probably hearing is the rear brake pads popping loose from the rotors. Any moisture or even humidity can cause enough oxidation (rust) to cause the pads to stick to the rotors. When you release the e-brake the pads do not release until you begin to back up, and then they "pop" loose; totally normal, I think. This is especially noticeable after washing or any other wet condition.

it is more like when you engage and disengage the clutch it feels, while on reverse like it takes a second to engage and you hear the "clunk" sort of noise like it hits the drivetrin or something......

Mine does it too. I thought it was slack in the linkage being taken up. Ideas?

Feels like that because for an instant you are fighting the brake pad friction, then the pads release. Was the car in the rain or recently washed....this is when it is most often noted?

That is probably your differential engaging in reverse. You are likely hearing the plates clamp together and spin in the seldom used reverse direction. This is usually loudest when you have a new car. This is normal.
