Default coffee slosher!

Newbie here and all I've got to say after two fast-paced weeks is....damn this thing rides "a bit" firm!!! Not complaining, though. Great fun to DRIVE!

It's my only car right now (and thus a 50-mile daily commuter), so I may need to invest in a $2000 beater if for no other reason than to absorb the coffee stains!

Happy trails!

Tim,

Check to make sure the rubber spacers have been removed. Could be causing your "stiff" ride.

10-4. I can't say that I know what the rubber spacers are that you're talking about, but I'll use the search function to find out. (And the ride really isn't THAT rough, but it will spill your drink!)

When I picked up the S2000 I jokingly thought I should take it back, because the shocks felt 'broke' compared to my Civic. Must say though the car feels more stable over 100mph than the Civic Does.

Tim935. Driving 100 miles a day will prove expensive in the long run. Investing in a $2000 beater will save you money down the line. If you average 700-800 miles per week, you will need a new set of tires in about 5 months which will run you about $650-$800. Also, you will run the warranty down faster, and this car is no Accord/ Civic when it comes to reliability. Plus, many people actually save money by listing their beater as their everyday driver and their S2000 as their weekend car.

Good point, Nastinupe1. But if the S2000 becomes too impractical or expensive to maintain, I'll just trade it in and use the $2000 beater money towards getting a new 325, RX-8, or G35 sedan (G coupes and 350Zs are garbage).

Thanks for the comments, ya'll. Appreciated.

Before you buy that 325, check out the new Road & Track that talks about a $190 oil change on a 3-series convertible. Also check the new Consumers Reports car issue. Consumers Union has stopped recommending the 3-series because its reliability is consistently below average. Lots of repairs x high cost per repair = extreme wallet damage, based on my own BMW experience.

The tire expense on the S2000 can be cut in half by running something like a Toyo Proxes T1-S instead of a Bridgestone Potenza S02 (tire wear factor of 280 vs. 140). Your handling would still be better than any of the cars you mention.

However, I sense you want a larger car.

Sounds like you need a sippy cup and a pillow to sit on. You should have bought a Lincoln.

Enjoy your ride a hundred miles every day. I barely drive 100 miles a week.
