Default Coilover Question

OK,

So I've searched alot, but just can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for, so I'm making my own post.

I want to get coilovers for my S2000, for the simple reasons of making the car handle better, and look nicer. I like a firm, tight ride, and know that those come with the addition of coilovers. I'm not looking for anything in between.

The only deciding factor is I just don't know what products out there are good in terms of quality, etc. I am new to the Japanese car world, and don't know many products. I am currently looking at Tein FLEX and RA coilovers, but that's it.

Is Tein quality good? I've heard people mention Buddy Club and Bilstein, but I just need a shove in the right direction as I want to buy the right set of coilovers and not be disappointed. Thank you so much.

Dave

KW Variant 3s I just installed mine and they are amazing, lots of adjustability. At the recommended setting they are perfectly fine for a daily driver IMHO. Not bouncy or too harsh.

You need to set a price range. Some coilovers will cost you $8000, others will cost you $800.

You also need to decide how important handling actually is. If you just want to lower the car and/or put something on your mod list, be honest and admit that. You will save a lot of money if you do. And you need to know how you are going to use the car. Plus, you have to be honest about how good of a driver you are and how close to the handling limits of the car you can actually get to without crashing.

I'm looking to spend about $1000-$1500 dollars, and I don't want a cheap setup just to lower my car, but I definitely don't want a rediculous track setup either. I want something that will improve my handling, even if I'm not pushing the limits of the car, because I don't drive like that daily.

You would need to go up $500-$1000 more to get a good, adjustable but still reasonably priced track setup.

For your purposes it sounds like you shouldn't spend any money on adjustable shocks, which are just something to screw up anyway. Look for something with streetable spring rates (about 400 lb/inch) and non-adjustable but good quality shocks matched to that.

That you do research commensurate with spending $1000-1500. Can you even tell me what it is about the handling characteristics of the car that you want to improve? It's not like there is a single sliding scale that runs from good to bad.

All I'm asking is to point me in the right direction as to what brands to look at, or even places online where I can browse... I want to lower my car, more for looks than for handling purposes, but I don't want the handling to suffer by just putting springs on the car.
