Because we're men...I wouldn't read a 2 page pamphlet if I'd just bought a Ferrari.

It happens, I thought the same thing when I did it in my Laguna. New car, cold outside, getting on the freeway....scary moment at first until I realized.

it really does not matter, NO motor should be revved to its limit when its cold, I don't care if its a Ford, Chevy, Honda or Ferrari, NO motor should be revved that high when its still cold. No reading of the manual should be needed that is common sense.

The internet sure brings out the best in people. Nobody can ask a question on internet forums without SOME unhappy sap pointing out a flaw in the OP's question, or yell at them to do a search. Goodness

Did this yesterday after removing my CDV and totally scared the crap outta me! I was so anxious to go test drive it that I didn't even think about letting it warm up first. Took it out ready to redline in 1st and BANG it just bogs down around 6K! I was sure I had done something wrong in the CDV removal process and was ready to go back home and reverse the whole thing. Luckily on the way back to the house it had warmed up enough and I tried it again with no problem. Love the night and day difference after the CDV removal too. Needless to say I'll never forget to let it warm up from now on.

Just don't do it all the time. Obviously don't do it at all if you can help it. But it is not going to destroy or even harm the engine if you do it every once in a while by accident. That's the whole purpose of it being there. Honda put it there knowing it is effective and set it to engage at a point they knew was appropriate and reliable. I've never heard of an engine failing from hitting the rev limiter when it's cold (probably gonna wish I didn't say that). Overreving from a missed downshift, now that's an entirely different story where the computer just isn't going to save you
