Color Matching yellow paint? Possible?
I had my trunk lid repainted and also my front bumper (cause I had stuff molded on) and the trunk lid is matched PERFECTLY, but my front bumper is not perfect.. they told me that it is not a perfect match because it is made of plastic..
He also said that the paint was a "candy" and that the paint code tells you whats in it, but not what order to paint in.. which is the key. He said it took him 3 tries to get it right, but would have no problem matching it in the future.

Well..sitting in the garage looking at the pearl Spa Yellow today, I came to the conclusion that this colour must be a real ***ch to match. I also remarked how my OEM side strakes are a different colour to the car, which is a different colour to my OEM spoiler, which is also different to my chin spoiler.
I'm guessing it's prolly not as hard to match as the Nordic Mist on my old 98 Prelude. Now THAT was a story and a half

My buddy who owns a body shop just bought his girl a Spa Yellow. We were talking about the paint and colour matching and he said that in short, Yes, the colour can be matched, but it would be very difficult because of the metallic and "candy" qualities, and ALSO because the plastic panels would not be perfect b/c the paint reacts slightly differently on plastic. Overall though, he figures it can be done with a little time and effort.
Heck, even on my Silver with origibnal paint, the plastic pieces are slighty different than the metal body portiopn. Oh well...

I was talking to Frank down at San Pedro autobody about how hard it is to color match the yellow. He told me it's pretty easy for them since the yellow on the S2k is the same as the yellow on the NSX. I think one of the members on the board took his yellow down there and they matched it perfectly. It really depends on how good the bodyshop is.

yeah i pretty much have the same prob as some of you... i got my bumper and windshield frame paited by the dealer and i noticed some discrpancies on the bumper. in the sun you can sorta tell that it has a different tone to it, but the windsheild frame was a perfect match prob because it was metal... yeah i beleive that its really though to match spa yellow.
