I am buying a new '01 S2000. The only available color is Black/Red. Any thoughts? Thanks

Like everyone else who's owned a black car (85 4+3 Corvette), never again.

Why never again? Just for issues of keeping it clean or what?

Wow, what's this negativity towards black about?

Black is definately the most difficult color to up keep. Unless you have a garage and plan on using it as a secondary car, I wouldn't even consider that color.

On the other hand...Black is really the most beautiful color. In the dealership where I purchased my S2K...there were a few other colors parked side by side in the show room. Black just looked amazing...so that's what I bought.

uhhh let's see,
black '74 VW beetle (X2)
black '89 Chevy S-10
black honda shadow
black '90 Ford F150
black '00 Dodge Durango
black '00 Honda S2000
Been looking REAL hard at a black viper.

True there were 6 or 8 other cars that weren't black in there since I've been driving, but they were deals where I didn't have a choice.
Guess I'm a major exception to ElTianti's rule
Black is a LOT of work if you want it to look nice all the time, but to me, it's worth it.

Black is gorgeous when it first leaves the detail shop, but unfortunately (from what I've seen), not many owners take the time to keep them dirt and swirl free. Consequently, IMHO, they look like crap.

I love the way black looks when it is clean. But when I had a black car I had to wash it every 3 days and wipe it down every day. But I am very picky on how clean my car is. As for how it looks, I think that Black with red interior looks awesome.

I think someone else said this in a previous thread but it bears repeating. Keeping a black car clean is like having a part time job.
