aaaaah....love posts that survive years of posting.

I now have another S2000...this time an 04....things haven't changed...while they have a little more torque...they STILL HAVE NO TORQUE....

But...keep in mind that I am going back to it for the simple "fun" factor. The STi...and the S2000...are the funnest cars I have ever owned...not even a pimp M3 or a torque box Z06 compare...

No torque...no problem...

i'm just the opposite. Car has no torque, or power for that matter.

unsafe handling? maybe in the rain, or if you rely on power to save the tail. .

Ahhh... But fieryermine has a MY2002 S2000, so he is perfectly in time with the date of the original thread.

Wow. Someone dug up my three-year-old thread. I'm honored.

In that time, I've had the opportunity to drive some cars that are "commended" for their good torque (350Z for example). When I drove the Z, I floored the throttle from low rpm and was expecting a huge wallop of torque that would shove me deeply into the bucket seat. It never happened. I swear, the car did not feel any more powerful off the line than the S. My thoughts on this haven't changed.

The one thing I find really hilarious after all this time is when I see Miata owners criticizing the S for not having any torque. I've driven Miatas. How would Miata owners know about torque?

I cannot believe the S2K is being compared to a Miata. It makes me sick.

But I did learn on this thread about driving my new car. I will be very careful as I learn it. My Teg was very forgiving.

Now that I've raced the car, I'll have to say that it's handling is nowhere near as stable as a '89 Vette. Of course, I worked on my '89's handling for a year before it was the way I liked it, but he the S2000 is a real handful regardless. The powerband is too uneven and the tail keeps wanting to come out and when it comes back in, it happens to quick and sends you to the inside of the corner, which I sometimes over correct and then I'm in some sort of pendulum thing which sucks. Not a great handling car once you get to the limit.

Robin.
You've got to be kidding.
