Competition for the S2000
It seems like Z's are already yesterday's news...
I've now seen a bunch on the lot, available at MSRP or likely below if you catch them at the end of the month.
When the S2000 was introduced, there where few true performance cars for under $35K. Unless you wanted the fast but crude Mustangs or F-bodies, there wasn't really *anything* that posed serious competition.
Now we have, or will have in the next year or so:
S2000
350Z
G35
RX-8
STi
Evolution
Next generation Mustantg SVT (400+ HP!)
Plethora of used Boxsters, Boxster S's, M-Roadsters and M-coupes in the low to mid $30's.
I was too young to experience the first "muscle car" era; When I got my license we where smack in the mid to late 70's era of smog-controlled anemic overweight cars. Looks like I'll get a second chance with the new performance car revival!

With all the overstock of Z's here in Tampa I see on the lots, let 'em have 'em and get rid of them. I'd rather have a G35 coupe or keep my S2K. The Z's are aleady too common and in my opinion, nice now, but ugly in the future. They won't hold the cool factor like the S2K will, especially as they become more common and bulky looking.
