at 22K miles on MY01 is it normal to add a little oil
at 22,103 miles I had to add a little bit of oil, less than a quarter of a quart. I bought the car used and I did my first oil change when I got it at 19,890 miles. I check my oil occasionally and today I noticed it was just about the second X where the L is located. So I added a little oil and it's at the middle now. I raced a couple of times but have never had this problem on my civic. Is this normal? Also, what mile should I change the LSD fluid and tranny fluid. ThaNks to everyone for their help.
It is normal to burn a little oil at ANY mileage. The owner's manual says to check your oil at every gasoline fill-up. There's a TSB that instructs dealers to tell owners to expect to burn up to a quart of oil every 1,000 miles, if I remember the details correctly. Your cup in 2,200 miles is NOTHING to worry about.
Stop checking your oil occasionally. Check it at every gasoline fill-up.
My '93 Prelude VTEC burns no oil when I drive around town. At 90 mph, it is a different matter.
My S2000 doesn't ever burn oil. It might if I drove it more than 150 miles a month.
There are some old threads about how the S2000 can burn a lot at the track with hard left turns, again, if I remember correctly.

I recently drove a 1200 mile road trip, with speeds as high as 95mph (usually 85mph)....and my car still didn't burn anything! It seems to vary from engine to engine, but appears to do no harm at all as long as you diligently feed the car the amount of oil it needs. If you don't....a rebuild is $4500, and a new engine is three to four times that!
