I beleive that they both claim the same results of around 4HP. As far as sound, I have no idea which is louder. I have the AEM and I've enjoyed it.

I don't think Comptech is all that loud. AEM is a LOUD BEAST! Just watch out for deep puddles

As far as gains from the dynos I've seen, you get a *little* bit more bottom end and a small bump in torque around 4K, but the Comptech seems to give much more at the top end.

Is all about personal preference... isn't choice a BEAUTIFUL THING?

Your'e a California driver - smog rules prevail.
The AEM is the only smog legal CAI I can find, and possesses the magic C.A.R.B. sticker.
You must have this to pass visual smog inspection.
Unless you plan on changing back to your stock airbox when its smog cert time, I would go with the AEM.

Besides, with the AEM V2 coming out soon, there are some killer deals on the original AEM
Racerwheel has them going for $220 with a $15 instant rebate - way cheap for a new one.

Enjoy!

I have the Comptech, and it is CARB-approved for all 50 states, so I don't think you need base your choice on that. I love the sound of my Comptech - It isn't VERY loud, but loud enough for me, especially at vtec when my grin goes wide!

The Comptech unit is a little pricey, though. (Not sure how much the AEM goes for. ) As far as appearance goes, I prefer the Comptech, but that's just my opinion. Either way, I think you will be pleased. Good luck!
