Default Comptech Differential Durability?

I'm thinking that putting in a comptech differential upgrade will allow me to lauch my car and make my drivetrain almost bulletproof. Is this the case or am I hoping for too much. Is the differential the biggest weak spot or is it the transmission? Looking for experiences and opinions.

Thanks,

Mrcln1

Yes, it will help. BUT...as I'm sure you know, nothing is bulletproof. Other things in the driveline can or will break. If you're planning on changing the gearset as well you might want to opt for a set of 4.57's. That gearset "appears" to be built stronger then the older 4.44 or 4.77's. Other driveline parts that can break are your axle shaft's. I've seen two of theese break doing hard launches. Both cars had the comptech diff in them.

I have a Comptech reinforced diff and 4.57's. The diff will hold but I have already broken an axle and the transmission case cracked during a hard launch.

Even without an S/C you still have enough HP on board to break anything in the driveline. You are doing something this car really wasn't meant to do. I'm not saying you cant do it. Hell, I've done it many times and I've never had a problem. Granted, not since I installed the S/C, but that's only been a few day's. All I'm saying is (and some other's I hope would agree with me) if you do hard launches, dont be shocked if something breaks.

For me anyway, from a complete stop 7K+Rpm and let the clutch go.

I usually lauch at about 5500 to 6500 RPM, that gives me just enough spin and not alot of bog to get away quik without feeling I have hurt anything.
