Default Comptech Header/Heat Shield Question?

Can someone tell me if the Comptech Header has the mounting points for the factory heat shield so that it can be put back on? And if not, is it a good idea to run with out it? I have looked at the pictures on Comptech's web site, and it does not appear to have the mounting brackets for the heat shield on it.

You can't put it on - Comptech says it's not necessary to have the heatshield due to the fact that the stainless steel doesn't get as hot. Looks better without it anyway.

Do you have pictures of yours? I think it would look better to, but I didn't want to run with out it if it might effect performance or hurt something. What is the stock header made of? I have read a few post about headers increasing the under hood heat and causing problems. Anyone have any thoughts?

My comptech header does not have the mounting points for the stock heatshields and I vented my hood!
PS, it is an awesome header!

I really want to use this header, but my hood will not be vented and I don't want to cause any problems with my car. Have you guys noticed any problems with your cars since you removed your header heat shield? What area of the country do you live in? Does it get really hot where you live, and what type of driving do you do most often, city, stop and go? Highway? Thanks for the info, trying to decide weather to get it or not, and some post on this forum have made the header heat shield sound like it is necessary.

Call Comptech and get the technical answer. They're a pretty conservative company - I doubt they'd design this thing in a way that might cause a problem with the car.

I tend to agree, but at the same time, so is Honda, so I can't help but wonder why exactly Honda put it on?
