Default comptech intake question

Hi all, I have a comptech intake for the 04' s2000 for about 3000 miles and its great. The only gripe that I have with it is, the whole damn dash seems to resonate. Anyone have a simple fix for this?

thats the tradeoff for a CAI, more air, more noise. mine drones also. but it doesn't vibrate the whole car. recheck it, for anything thats may be loose.

When do you notice this dash coming from the dash? I mean is it during acceleration, deceleration, all the time??

I ask because my dash rattles and buzzes, but I'm almost 100% sure that its cuz of the clutch buzz/rattle TSB thing... It says that you have an 04, but I read somewhere that for some reason the newer S2Ks switched to the clutch design of the 00-01 S2K and that some of them have the clutch buzzing issue during deceleration...

I had the Comptech intake for a few months but had the same problem. I tried everything to get rid of it but nothing worked. I eventually sold it and got an AEM - I'm much happier now.

Not to say the Comptech isn't a nice intake, it is - this was just my experience with it.

Hmmm, that makes me wonder...is my dash buzz/rattle cuz of the Intake or the clutch rattle thing...

From what I've heard, the clutch decell buzz tends to appear on the drivers side of the dash.

The buzz I got from the Comptech intake was on the passenger side and only under WOT.

Oh ok...my dash rattle/buzz comes only during deceleration between 2000-3000 rpm and its towards the smack dab center of the dash (which is where the tranny and clutch is I presume)... And the dash actually stops buzzing if i put my hand on the center of the dash... I have no buzzing or anything during acceleration or WOT... (knock on wood, lol)

Thanks for the info

I actually only get a buzzing on WOT at about the 4800k range. The rattle is actually on the passenger side. Has anyone found a fix to this problem?

I think you are SOL...I have one too and have accepted that it is the way they designed the resonator can in the middle of the intake tube. I have padded and added sound deadening in all the places I can think of to no avail. I may end up swapping the stock one back and just cut out the exhaust resonator for some more noise when I want to get rowdy...the stock set-up is just too much nondescript engine racket.
