Default Comptech SC

This question is actually for a friend i work with at my dealership. Who all makes superchargers for your cars and how much boost does it run and roughly how much hp does it add? Also what is the average price the SC guys are spending? thanks.

Comptech, www.comptechusa.com, and Vortech are the two leaders in the S2000 SC race. The hp question is a complicated one but it's not hard to get 320+ H.P. at the wheels with either one of them.

Comtech uses a Paxton Novi 1000 supercharger. I think the prices were in the high $4000 for the Comptech retail. I have seen the Vortechs for low $4K. From the original tests they were reporting an extra 90 whp (100hp+ at the crank). I think the 320 whp may be a bit much. The dynos I have seen indicate closer to 290-300.

but it's not hard to get 320+ H.P
Do not be misled by this statement... there are alot more supercharged S2000 that make 280-299 RWHP than make over 300 or 320+. With just the Comptech SC... most seem to make around 280 RWHP.

And, when a comptech SCed S2000 runs on a Mustang dyno, expect to see around 250s to very low 260s if you are extremely lucky. Before jumping on the guy and say, "WHAT? 250s???", consider I saw a Viper GTS put down 370 rwhp on a Mustang dyno. Yeah, 450hp version.

In sports compact car, with I/H/E & SC the car went from 203 whp (normal) to 293 whp running 6 lbs. of boost. If they are running more than that maybe that is how they are getting more hp. I have heard of people pushing 8 lbs. but I wonder if that increases chance for detonation, or the long term effects on the engine. The Vortech claim is 108 hp for the kit, but it has the intercooler with the kit, so that may reveal where the extra hp comes from.

been there....

stock + vafc + SC = 255hp

went to 4.375 pulley = 261 hp (higher mid curve, dropped at high end, ran out of dyno time)

just put on mugen header + supersprint exhaust, will be back to dyno this week.

have 3.875 pulley in the garage, debating whether to try it now or wait for aftercooler. we are thinking it will get about 8.5 lbs boost and in the area of 320 hp.

Pete (Yellow Streak) already had H/E combo but had some issues with his SC keeping him lower than normal runs. that is straightened out now, last time in he pushed 290 hp with a 4.25 pulley.

all this was on a mustang dyno at Curry's.
