I have been thinking about SC'ing in the future too. I have a question though. When running the CTSC are the after coolers CARB exempt too? Or is it just the SC kit that has a CARB #?

I ask this cuz GReady turbo kits have a CARB#, but their intercooler kits do not. In CA you can fail visual for the intercooler kit if it does not have the CARB#. I am wondering if the CTSC kit has the same drawback.

I removed the cats from my RX-7 months ago.
when i lived in Castle Rock i had a 89 chevy pickup with no exhaust(literally) and two hatches that were catless and both civics PASSED emissions without cats!

Well my sticker should arrive towards end of this week so going to try once more with SMOG place....fingers crossed!

If this was a custom turbo kit or something I can understand since I have no one to blame but myself in creating the headache. I just think that a product with an advertisement of CARB approval should at least have their website updated and be useable by the smog shop.

I will update once I receive the sticker - let's hope this works.

As for the aftercooler that wasn't even brought up so let's not talk about it right now...haha

I too, am thankful you all don't live in California. I hear in 2008, we're outlawing any car with more than 120 HP, so if you're thinking of moving here... don't.

Rick, sounds pretty much like par for the course if you're modifying a car. What, did you think it was going to be painless? Wait 'til a cop pulls you over and you HAVE your CARB certification, and he STILL sends you to the state Ref .

Gotta pay to play

So let me get this right, you bought a used car with a CT S/C installed and it is Comptech's fault that the prior owner did not install the sticker that came with the kit?

No, I think he is pissed because its not in the system come "SMOG" time, when it should be to make life a lot easier. As he said, it brings up a list of parts and it was not in their
systems.

I went crazy whith the smilies...

Comptech advertises its CAI and SC as being CARB certified. The company absolutely should update its website w/CARB info (or info for the ARB of any other state with an electorate intelligent enough to regulate emissions) as needed, and cooperate on certification matters as much as possible with users of Comptech parts, regardless of whether those parts were purchased new or used. That's called product responsibility. I'm happy with my Comptech header and CAI, but I've been considerably less satisfied with the company's customer service. Having said that, I don't think the $2 charge was out of line at all.

s4play, are you running stock boost?

I'm running stock boost on my Vortech and went to get a smog a couple months ago and they just checked my OBDII and passed me.
