Are Comptechs claims for there header true?
I was at comptechs site, and they claimed there header was better than all the rest, including spoon. Their principle was based on the fact that their header is "stepped down". I would like to know if anyone here has tried either or both of these headers, and can give me information on which is the better buy. I plan on getting one soon, and im leaning towards comptech, but i hate to make a 900$ error....

three headers are on the market right now - spoon, mugen and dc sport. not sure if there are any others. I'd wait till someone does a dyno with a baseline and then the header installed before dropping 900 on it if you are looking for gains. but the gains from any header will be minimal - very minimal, compared to what you think you'd get from a header from say... a mustang or camaro.
i wouldn't want to make claims like that if i were them. "better" is such a judgmental term when it comes to header designs. besides, each of the headers i've seen all had their strengths and weaknesses, depending on what you're looking for in terms of power curve - spoon's design has everything to do with their road racing heritage (note: lots of upper range and post-peak power), mugen does it to improve mid range performance. i've seen pics of the comptech header, and it looks very similar to MG Racing's header. for some time i had guessed that they went with that design to compensate for their supercharger's inherent properties, but time will tell.
Brandon,
Here's a copy of your question and my reply to you. Could you please explain how you derived that information from what I stated here?
I have a 2002 S2000 on the way, and i want to have my after market parts lined up for when it arrives. I was considering spoon headers, but they cost nearly $250 more than comptech's s2k's headers. Why, other than cost, should i go with comptech? Also, does comptech plan a dual exhaust which will fit the 2002 models. I only ask this becuase i noticed the only available exhaust is restricted to the 2000 model. Thnx

You will find that most headers will make minimal gains on that car, or it will make good power in one rpm range but at the expense of power in another. We designed ours so you don't lose power to gain power. Why is Spoon's more than ours? I don't know. It sure is nice to know that we aren't always the most expensive! As far as I know, the 2002 fits uses the same exhaust as the 00 and 01 cars, but we haven't had one in here yet to check.
