I am hearing a chain-like rattle from the engine on cold starts that doesn't go away until the car is warm. I have followed the break in period by the book but have noticed this rattling from the very beginning. I now have 900 miles. Should I be concerned? Could it be the cam chain? Do any of you experience the same problem? The car seems to run fine when warm. Any comments appreciated.

The oil was down 2 marks at approximately 290 miles and I topped off and again down 3 marks at 900. Added 10w30 Castrol.

Should I post this type of question on the "under the hood" forum?

You have nothing to worry about.

Another member of this forum questioned his dealer about this sound and the dealer demonstrated that all four of his new S2000 cars on the lot had same sound. It is a chain in the valve timing and it goes away when the engine warms or when the weather warms.

I've heard it once or twice too.

Barry, Thanks so much. This is my sixth Honda I've owned and I can say it is a different animal. I guess racing technology sometimes comes at the expense of refinement/comfort. Which is expected and is OK with me as long as it holds up. I was able to hear and feel the vtec for the first time last week, WOW. I will continue to let the car break in and see if there is any improvement and post it on this thread. I like your UserName. Guess who I got it from? Thanks again.
