Condensation in Taillight...
The RX-8 has a similar problem, its actually quite common. I got mine replaced under warranty with no problem. I just told Mazda it condensed after a wash or heavy rain, and they replaced both.
I don't see why this manufacturing defect would not be covered by Honda if the car was still in warranty.
Do you have an extended warranty? Honda's bumper to bumper is 3 years/36000 miles, and according to your post, its been over 3+ years since you owned it, and being a 2002, maybe 5 years since it was originally purchased. If you're out of warranty, you are SOL.

What did they replace? The gaskets?
Thanks.

Mazda replaced the whole taillight assembly on both sides. The dealer didn't have any in stock, so they had to order some from Mazda.
As far as I'm concerned, replacing the gasket will just prevent water from going back in again. It will not remove whatever residue/dead bugs that have gotten inside.
If they clean out the taillight and replace the gasket, that could be an acceptable solution. Opt for new taillights if you can.

Dude, I don't let no stinking dealer touch the S.
Besides, it's a new car. No bugs in the tail light. Just a little water from one car wash. And it's all dried up now.
What I need to know is this: I have a PDF of the '03 Service Manual. Helm is selling Manuals for our cars as "for 2000 to 2007." Is it possible that they are selling the _same_manual for all model years (in which case, I don't need to buy another one)? This doesn't sound right to me . . . .
