Hi, for all the longtime s2k owners. What is the condition of your top? I am affraid that after a few years it will deteriorate, as like increase in wind noise, top will lose its stiffness, stuff to that nature. I've seen like older convertibles from other makes and models and the top flaps in the wind. So can somebody let me know how theirs is holding up.

On another note, i am going to look at a 2004 s2k tomorrow. It has 1,300 miles on it. Sticker price is $32,800. Do you guys think an offer of $28,000 is reasonable? I Figure i will go to you guys before for some advice. Thanks

Just a comment on how much i love this car. The first car i test drove this morning was a 2004 honda s2000. After that i was off the nissan dealership to give the 2004 350z "touring package" a try. While driving the 350z i was actually thinking about the s2000 for some odd reason. Yes it was powerful, had torque, heated leather seats, good audio system, but yet it wasnt a s2000. I guess the S put a trance on me. Its love at first sight, or drive. =0)

Easy answer to your question is to go and look at some of the 2000 model S2000's that are running around. There should be plenty that look brand new.

It's pretty much like any car, look after it and it will stay looking good for a long time. The top isn't that much different either.

Joe, read this thread. Wear Holes in the Top (new info)
With that, I have no issues with the top.

You can also read some of the Wash & Wax threads.

Good Luck.

Except for the wear holes caused by Honda's workmanship...my top is now four years old and is still in great shape. In fact, I just cleaned the plastic rear window and it looks brand new (Plexus is amazing stuff).

Chitah831...What is 303 protectant? How does it work? And where can one purchase it?

It is a vinyl convertible top cleaner and protector. You have to order it through an online vendor. It will cost about ~25 bucks for a set of the cleaner and protector.

This is if you only want the protectant.

My top is four years old and still looks new. The car is my daily driver and is not garaged. The only thing I've replaced was the strikers which were worn out and I had some wind noise.

I use 303 cleaner and protectant (purchased at West Marine and check your local marine store or auto parts store) every time I wash the car. Since I have the plastic the rear window I use Plexus and plastic polish from BMW to keep it looking clear.

Hate Me!, 303 is a vinyl protectant. Just spray onto a cloth and not directly onto the top, wipe it on evenly. I use an old dark colored face towel so I don't get lint on the top when I apply the 303.

Hope this helps.

I have a MY00 and the top is still in great condition. I don't have any problems with it.
