conservative relatives?

My 'rents are fairly conservative as well. They couldn't beleive I was spending this much on just a car. And one with only two seats to boot. But once I actually made the purchase, they came around. Now they can't wait for me to come home so they can take it out!
When explaining to people why I bought it, I always talk about the handling, performance, etc. But I also mention that it's wonderfully ineffecient to own a two seater roadster with no room.

LOL. It's no more inefficient that some princess yammering on a cell phone while cruising around all alone in a tank of an SUV!
At least you fellas (hopefully) don't get asked, "But where will you put the baby seat?"
I tell people that it's gloriously impractical and I wouldn't have it any other way. The hypothetical baby can ride in the trunk.

My parents think that I should use the money for a better purpose, not buying a fancy sports-car. I live with my parents right now, and my dad said that I could live with them until I was 21 ... but I wouldn't want to do that. Anyway, I have the money to buy the S2000 now, but they said taht if I have enough money to buy the S2000, then I have enough money to live on my own. I'm currently looking for a roommate right now in Dallas // Frisco area. My mom lives there in Texas, maybe I can ask her to help pay half of my insurance or something in exchange for cleaning her pool and cutting the grass...sorta like a barter. But, that's my current predicament. I can empathize for you about your conservative parents. My dad said that if I ever bought the car that he would never want a ride in it because he just thinks the whole idea about me getting the car is stupid. Oh well, at least I'll be happy.

I have no problems with my mother. She thinks the car is nice, but she never rides in it.
This is actually very fortunate, since she will be 92 in December. If I ever got her into the car, I would need to lower the top and borrow a power hoist to extract her.
