Default considering extended hondacare warranty

I'm fast approaching my 3 year ownership mark (July 2005) and 36K miles (currently at 34K). My factory warranty will be out soon and I'm considering purchasing the Honda Care Extended Warranty as a safety net in case of any major problems down the road. However from my research, I understand that Honda Care is very strict with modifications, even more so than the factory one.

So should I even brother wasting $1400 on a 7 year/100K mile extended Honda Care warranty? Is there a better warranty company that people recommend that won't give me a hassle for replacing a broken transmission, because I have an coilovers? The other option is to go with no extended warranty and hope nothing major happens afterall this is a Honda and should last forever... I hope.

Well, you have to figure what can possibly go wrong with the car.... For all you know, the only thing that go wrong with the car, might be a simple $200 fix. Then again, you also have to think "What if."

Also, from what I've read on here, Dealers are always giving people shit about the HondaCare warranty, by not covering certain things on the car.

It's more or less a safety net for you. If you plan on keeping the car for long time, it could be a piece of mind to have it.

I have thought the same, however as I put a lot of miles on my cars (20K in 9mos.) the extended warranty is not as appealling. I have owned a number of Hondas and I have found them to be exceptionally reliable for the first 100K to 150K, then after that they begin to have problems with AC, electrics and rust. If well maintained the drivetrains have never given me any grief.

I'm going to keep my $1,700.00 in my pocket.

Well my logic is this...

I'm planning to keep the car forever, but beyond 2007 the S2000 will see less than 3K miles per year so until then I want to have a safety net in case something happens.
