The extended warranty sucks. It covers nothing that goes wrong unless your car blows up, and thats very unlikely

I'm very interested to hear why people don't think much of the extended warranty. I am in the market for a cheap, used s2k and one of the things I'm very interested in is getting a warranty for it as it will likely be a bit higher mileage. Is it strictly the hondacare that people don't like, or are the other companies that sell extended warranties just as bad? Thanks!

I bought the extended warranty after having my differential blow and transmission replaced under 29k miles. I opted for the 7 year/ 100,000 mile warranty since I plan on driving the car alot.

You can find out more about it at http://www.hondawarranty.com.

It covers most of the major components. You also get roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement.

well munckee, you will want extended warranty cause you have no idea how the previous owner has treated the car.

i know, probably all of us rev the heck out of the car, but as long as we do all the proper maintenance, i believe it will be fine.

so buying a pre-owned S2000 with the extended warranty is a very good peace of mind!

i might change my mind later on and re-purchase the extended warranty again before the standard 3 yr warranty expires (a little less than 2 yrs away), but i will see if i will see how the car holds up within this period of time.

side note: i saw people getting 7yr/75k miles warranty for $800~900. So i still saved money with my partial refund (more than that amount ) from the extended warranty and i earn interest by putting my money into my account for the mean time. (yeah right~ i actually put the money i got straight to mods )

Thanks stokae! I feel the same way, but I was starting to wonder as I read posts about the warranty not covering much. Can I assume that it is possible to buy a bumper to bumper warranty that will cover the smaller stuff that might go wrong? And does anyone have any recommendations for companies other than hondacare that offer the warranty?

my thought is they are not going to cover wear and tear, and they are not going to cover the things i break (or if they think so). so that leaves only little chance of something going wrong. and i can't do anything to car or change my own oil.

that's a lot of "can't do" and very little "can do" ...
