Consumer Reports Acceleration numbers
I got these acceleration numbers off teh Consumer Reports website... comments?
Acceleration
0-30 mph, sec. 2.1
0-60 mph, sec. 5.6
Quarter mile, sec. 14.4
Quarter mile, mph 97
45-65 mph, sec. 4.3
I guess most of them don't sound bad, except maybe that last one?

Those numbers sound about right...but the last one is most likely timed in top gear. That's how magazines do testing to provide what they think is relevant data. IMO, 45-65 is one of the coolest acceleration bands of the S2000...I don't know the times for it in *second* gear, which is what it should be done in to achieve the best times possible, but this time is most likely top gear acceleration.
Thats really shocking for CR ... you'd expect something like 6.5 or something, with a high unreliability rating
They do a great job at testing batteries, but not much else.
car connection recently wrote up a good article over their flawed testing and reliability survey techniques.

>>> I'm suprised those nerds could drive the car that quickly.<<<
I ran into a CR tester or tech guy at an AUTOCROSS in CT awhile back. That was a shock. He certainly had a clue about driving and wrenching and was a regular guy. He was running an old RX-7 which he was setting up for it's SCCA classification.

The Annual Consumer Car Guide also lists the S2000 as far and away the most reliable roadster with the Miata finishing second. The 2 worst were the Corvette and Boxster, both in the negative range as far as the Honda was in the positive range!
