Does anyone wear contact lenses and drive around with the top down ? How do you keep eyes and lenses from drying out from the wind ?

My brother has this problem too when he's in the car. What he ends up doing is to put up the window.

never had a problem with convertibles and contacts. Drove a Jeep CJ during high school (w/o doors and top 90% of the time) and only had a problem when I folded the windshield down. Talk about wind buffeting.

Had a M1 Miata for a long time, no problem there.

My S has less wind buffeting than anyother convertible I have ever been in and I have not had a problem.

If you are bothered, do the unthinkable and roll up the windows.

I wear my contacts all the time. I haven't had any experiences with lenses drying out while driving with the top down. I've done this with trips of 100+ miles...no problem.

I do wear sunglasses for my daytime driving. I'm not sure if that really helps to prevent "drying out"

I've had this problem in my S2000, but only at night when I'm not wearing sunglasses. I've also have dry eye problems in non-convertibles when running the heat to the defroster vents (but again only when not wearing sunglasses...so usually at night). Do you wear your contacts all the time (even sleep in them)? Mine are the disposible ones, so I used to do that. Lately, I tried not sleeping in mine and it seems like it might be making the dry eyes problem a little better. I'm beginning to think sleeping in contacts is a bad idea (even though it's suppose to be okay) -- actually I've suspected that I've just been lazy in the past!

Is anyone else not seeing the obvious answer here? I think it's Alcon that makes this stuff called "Refresh tears". Great stuff, and I stayed permanently attached to a bottle in the weeks following my Lasik surgery...

Sunglasses help too!

not only do sunglasses help, they protect your eyes - just in case you are flying over 120 around a bend and rocks start to hit you in the side of the head!

I wouldn't want to lose an eye, especially from driving.

I second Sondra's suggestion: LASIK, sunglasses, and eye drops as needed .
