Don't hang your head out the window like a dog! 
I used to wear glasses (dork) and for some reason my eyes would water when my shield was up on my motorcycle helmet. now with contacts, my eyes don't water, and they aren't dried out either!

Ok, now your in my field. Dont know much about alot of things, but I have fit 13000+ people in contacts and wore them for 24 yrs, had Lasik 4 yrs ago.
During the day the obvious answer is to use tight fitting wrap-around sunglasses to help cut down the airflow.
The eyes dry more during driving (even without convertable tops) due to suppression of the blink reflex. This suppression happens when reading, watching TV, driving, or anything else that you do that is vision-intensive.
Add that to CL drying, and thats where the problem comes from. Of course, after corneal surgeries, like Sondra's Lasik, it is much worse for 2-4 months post-operative.
Tell your eye care practitioner about the problem, and they may be able to fit you in a more lubricating lens. This has helped several of my patients.
The rewetting drops should be used BEFORE the eyes dry, i.e. before you start driving. This will allow for prevention of drying and irritation. These drops are designed for prevention, not treatment. Once the eyes get significantly irritated due to drying, nothing but removal of the lens will really help.
