My thoughts? Bring money - lots of it.

Seriously though... I love the M3. I just don't think it's worth 55K.

Did anyone notice in that article the M3 seem to get slower with age? most Honda I've owned in the past get stronger and stronger as they age.

Yep, I noticed that, too, although I am not sure why it would get slower over time. Perhaps they had two different test drivers drive the car, or tested the car at different locations/temperature/humidity, etc.

You can also PM 'wantone.' He's spent quite a bit of time in both an S2000 and SMGII M3 Cab. I'm not talking about just daily driving, but spirited driving through the hills.

As for my experience with the M3, I've only driven it for a few blocks. Like others have stated, when you first get into the car, you'll notice that the interior is much more luxurious. The seats are nice, but they must be heavy as hell, considering they have electronically adjustable lateral support, lumbar support, etc. I had no idea how to use the SMGII, so I'm not quite sure what mode I was driving in. The power/torque delivery is very smooth. The M3 also felt a bit heavy, but very solid. I can't comment on the handling aspect because I only drove a few blocks on city streets. Overall, I think it's a sweet car. If you want a lighter version of the M3, you should check out the CSL, although I'm not quite sure if and when those are being released. Good luck!

the M3 is just an all around better car. Hell I'm sayin this and i even own an S2000!!! If you like torque, get the M3!

As for the engine problems, I believe those were only on 2% of the September 2001 releases. Not a problem anymore

agreed, 2 totally different cars. But for practicality's sake (daily driver), id get the M3. If you're looking for a toy car, get the S2000. That's my philosophy

.i know what you mean about the shifter though! I hate shifting in my 328is after driving the s2000. the throw is much longer. I was thinkin about gettin a short shift kit for it, but didnt get around to it yet.

I wish the s2000 came with the Nappa leather in the M3. Everytime I sit in kster's M3, I am enveloped with the scent of the several hides it probably took to appoint the interior. Don't forget the sound. The exhaust note of the E46 is a bold and raspy machismo vibrato. Full throttle acceleration will plant the back of your head firmly into the (did I mention Nappa upholstered) headrest. I think of the M3 as understated elegance with the power to back up it's aggressive looks if provoked.
