all years are the same, they're just really difficult to deal with. that's why you see many S's top down w/o boot. it gets easier the more you do it but i've been doing it for 3 years now and it sometimes makes me want to rip it off throw it on the ground and jump on it. mostly mine sits in the garage on top of an old mg that i'me gonna fix one of these decades.

I managed to get my boot on last Sunday on the first try. T'was a bit hard but it fit. There were a strong south wind and when driving west the boot vibrated near the rear of the driver's side door so I doubt I'll be using it much.

Mine does the same so I put mu window up about 1/2 inch and it doesn't do it any more. You could also keep your elbow on the window sill. Basically, you just need to keep the wind from hitting it. The window trick is the easiest.

The snaps to secure the boot to the car on its front portion are a real problem. Squrirting a bit of lubricamt, like WD 40, into the boot snaps may help a bit. But the installation of this boot cover is definitely NOT one of the high points of this car.

Thanks,
Richard

Actually, there are at least three OEM boot designs out there. I have the first two designs which are different than those currently shipping.

BTW: The first design is the best.

If it takes more than 1 minute to put on you're doing it wrong.

If its new, its probably really stiff. I would set it out in the sun for a few hours. This will allow the vinyl to loosen up. Then attach the snaps on the front and sides BEFORE putting the rear in. Its much eaiser this way.

Yeah. I tried to put my boot on a couple of times. First time, it was just by myself... I was trying for a good 8 minutes then decided to quit. Second time, my friend and I tried and it took us about 10 minutes to get it on. I didn't think it reached the snaps either, but I suppose you have to wear in the boot a little to make it easier to use and not take 10 minutes.
