None of you have ever wrestled a Jeep Wrangler soft top or you wouldn't complain about the boot. There was a redesign from the original although I don't know exactly what it was. Seems I read they added some more clips.

Actually, there are at least three OEM boot designs out there. I have the first two designs which are different than those currently shipping.

BTW: The first design is the best.

If it takes more than 1 minute to put on you're doing it wrong.
I have an 01, so maybe I have the "easy" one-- but I'm going to agree. Anything more than a minute or two and somethings wrong. Mine practically puts itself on, taking it off is actually the hard part because even after i unclip and seperate, the clips want to go back together when i'm working on a different clip.

You're putting the clip portion in, clipping, THEN tucking the back in- right?

The boot is sort of a pain. Mine has six snaps. Four on the back... two in front. I find it fairly painless to put on... (although must say it sucks to do)...

then agian I am fairly tall which prob.. makes it easier.

BTW... if it takes you longer than 1.5 min to put on... you are probably doing it wrong.

Interesting... my 2005 has 4 snaps, two behind the seats, and two kind of next to the seats. The back stays in place (well, it always pops out) with these little tabs. The two snaps behind the seats are too far apart for the cover, I have to pull and pull and pull with all my might to try to get whichever snap I try to do second to go on. The last time I tried, I couldn't do it, that's when I decided to never use it again and so it has sat in my closet for 10 months. I only got it on there twice, and the stupid snaps scratched some plastic trim when trying to put it on for the first time.

The thing is a piece of junk.

I have heard the this same type of response from those witht he newer boot style. Mine is an 01.

Maybe the boot is something that Honda did not improve on... actually made worse in later models?

Also, my boot rarely pops up (it has happened.. but not often)

My M05 got the boot the first few times I drove the car, but I decided it is not worth the raw knuckles anymore.

Sometimes the noise is coming from the straps snext to the door. Twist them 360-degrees before snapping them in eliminated the noise for me.

I had the clip on one go bad, and I had the dealership put the new one on backwards so it had to twist 180 degrees to install. That took care of the noise.

Of course my cover now lives in a storage shed somewhere, so it is not an issue. I used the cover consistently for the first year or so, but it became too much or a nuisance.

Hmmm... I don't know why you think the first design is the best. After all, it was recalled almost immediately and replaced by the second design. Only the very early owners of the S2000 had ever seen the first design boot cover because of the possible binding of the seat belts when the seats are pushed all the way back with the boot cover on. The second design has a cut-out in the corners for the seat belts.

As for the buzzing, it was caused by the vibration of the elastic strap in the wind. Do a search for the "half twist" solution and it avoids the buzzing sound. Good luck.
