Default Convertable Top & The Cold.

Ok, I apoligize in advance, I did a lengthy search and did not find quite the answer to my question.

Does the top not perform as well in the cold? I went to put my top down today and it didn't go down all the way, It still had atleast another 6 inches to drop. It just stopped. Does temperature matter in the amount the top drops? Like is the fabric stiffer in the cold so it does not fold up as well? Please let me know, If this is not normal I will take the car to Honda.

If it's below 50, I don't put the top down. I'm sure the fabric does get stiffer in the cold and that may keep it from going down all the way.

Wow, I thought I was the only person with this problem. Except mine does it when it's warm as well. It wont go down a good 6" or so. Basically enough so I cant see anything through the rear view mirror. Of course it doesn't happen when I goto the dealership. Only once in a while - usually when the car has been sitting over night.

I'd like some insight to a solution as well.

Modifry puts out a convertible top strap fix that replaces the straps right above you and the passenger. These straps get stretched out and don't maintain the tension on the top bars which leads to the top sitting up about 6-8 inches higher than it should when down. I think he sells them directly from his webpage and not from S2ki shop.

I don't have any problems since I did this fix and I will put it down as long as its not raining or below 40.

After I put the top down, if it isn't all the way down, I simply place my hand in the middle of the front of the top, (there is a black plastic handle) and push gently as I push the down button. The top then goes all the way down.

First, I think it says in the manual not to put the top down if its below 40 degrees F. Second, over time like others have said, the straps get stretched and the top will not go all the way down. I have heard others have gotten this fixed under warranty. Hope this helps.

My car was brand spankin new, manufactured in july and picked up in september and this was happening. Secondly, I should not have to push that thing down with my hand under the circumstance that my car was brand new and doing that.

Has anyone gone to the dealership and maybe found the wiring to be faulty or a motor that was just defective and not putting out enough torque?
