What was the ambient temp? The coolant will heat up very hot initially as it draws the high temps from the car at first and then not cool as much as it goes through the condensers as the coolant that comes after it - that is just a byproduct of the coolant system in the car being so small, and might be your issue. It will be more noticable when its really hot out than on a warm day. Does that make sense?

i recomend getting a 2nd opinion on the temp going cycling from cold to warm and back and forth.

it could just be that you're getting used to the cold air and your body is telling you that the air is getting warm.

put a temp guage in the vent and check the temp difference between cold and warm. about 5 degree change is ok.

it is normal for the compressor clutch to cycle on and off.

it cycles long enough for the air to get warm and the compressor and fans shut off

My 2002 does the same thing. The air is real cold as long as the compressor is on. When the compressor kicks off, I can tell by the quality of the air. Honda checked it out for me and advised everything was working as it should. They said it was typical for the S2000.
