Default Convertable top leaks

Not sure if this is the right spot to post this question so sorry in advance. My s2 got caught in the rain for the first time and i noticed a leak on the passenger side where the top molding meets the top of the passenger window. It seems to be only in one small spot where the two moldings come together (sorry for the terrible description). Being my daily driver i need to fix this asap. I looked up the price of a new piece of molding and i found it for about 230 bucks. I definitely do not want to spend that much money on molding. I was wondering if there was a cheap/effective fix for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! You guys have already provided me with a ton of great information

The first thing I would do is give the weatherstripping (do all of it) a cleaning then a thorough treatment with Shin-Etsu grease. That quite possibly could take care of the problem if the weatherstripping is not torn up. There is probably a DIY posted somewhere here on this easy job.

I ordered it off e-bay for about $12, but your local Honda dealer should have it. It the Honda recommended stuff for the S2000. Works wonders.

I occasionally have the same issue... not often... but sometimes... and I use the shin etsu grease twice a year or so.

It all depends how the molding comes together when the roof is put up.

Maybe look at the drivers side vs the passenger side and see if they are seating the same.

When mine leaks... I put the top part of the way down, then back up and normally that takes care of the problem.

Had the same issue, but ordered the Shin-Etsu grease off eBay, came from a Honda dealer...fixed it right up. I guess a tube of that stuff will last you the life of your car.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I did buy a tube of that shin etsu stuff and applied on the molding. Ran the hose over the window to check for leaks and it still leaks from the same spot. It looks like its coming from where two peices of the molding come together. I was thinking of maybe trying to stick a peice of some kind of rubber or other material that is sticky on the one side to have the molding fit closer to the window. I know this may sound tacky but I am in need of a quick fix because I drive the car daily. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I might be able to try in addition to the shin etsu grease I have applied?
