Default Convertible boot

I just got my car yesterday and the only thing that bothers me is the convertible boot. Takes a few mins to put it on, but is a bitch to take it off!! Those pins in the
back suck ..... Who uses this regularly? I know dust might get into the machinery
if I dont use them, but is there any option? Also, it takes half of the trunk when stored there. Any ideas? Is there a way I could keep the area clean w/o using it?
Sorry ...... new to convertibles and the Search feature is not working. Thanks!

My S2K is a second car, so I may have a different point of view from others. I usually put it on after washing the car (letting the top dry first, of course) and leave it there until I am going to have to drive in the rain. Sometimes I make it all the way till the next washing! I like the look , but once it comes off, it usually stays off until I detail the car.

the first time I put it on it took a little while, after that I don't see the problem. It takes me no more then a minute to pop it on. But honestly, I hardly ever use it...

You will find most here don't use it much. There is no problems not using it...

I used it the first couple of weeks that I had the car. It's annoying, but mostly it takes up the entire trunk. I haven't used it in a long time, so I make sure I vacuum the "well" area often.

you can just snap the two buttons by the doors and you'll be fine, there's not much need to snap all the buttons behind the seats. i tested this, and at around 70mph it doesn't even move, but don't hold me responsible if yours just goes flying off into space =X

I use mine all the time...why?...use the boot and drive around for a day or two. Then, take a damp towel and wipe down the boot...you want all that dirt sticking to the inside of the top?

I use mine all the time - it holds spare tools and towels with the inside facing up - and keeps them from rolling off the shelf that it sits on.

I had used it a few times when i first got my S - I'd like to use it more but if you're going to be going top up & several times while running to the gym and about town that thing becomes all the more impractical. I consider it (the convertible boot ) a very bad design element of the S.
