Default Convertible top assembly removal

Just wondering how hard the job is in removing the convertible top and frame and replacing it with a hardtop. Is their any DIY

I"m I going to have some obsticles. I read in the install instructions that the hardtop side catchers or some piece of the hardware connect to the oem top. Is this true.

Also, is the oem cT 65 pouns or around 85 pounds.

Thanks for any input

Why do you want to take out the softtop, just leave it in there.

You don't need to remove the softtop to put the hardtop on.

The S2000 doesn't come from the factory with the hardtop kit, you'll need to buy it from a Honda dealership or Hardtopguy.com. You really don't need to remove the soft top, it could save you some weight but you would be removing the motor which will take some time. I would only remove the soft top if you were basically going to use the car as a coupe and never take the hardtop off.

Im aware you dont need to take the softop off for the hardtop but for the next 1-2 years, dont plan on using the convertible top much. Even before I purchased the hardtop, the last 3 months I've only used it about twice.

I have all the hardware expect for the rubber spacers. I just couldnt find much info on removing the total assembly. I read somewhere it wasnt that hard compared to replacing the convertible top.

Also, can use the extra space in the back without the top

take the top off and save some weight. 70 lbs for the motor and top vs. 40 lbs for oem hardtop i think was the weigh in.

Can I just remove the convertible frame and leave the motor on or is it all together. I dont mind the weight savings but really just want the extra space.

I took off today in the morning the back panel and the rear panel for where the cop lays when its down. I see about 10 bolts which hold the back of the top/frame together. After I take these out, I heard there's not much more I have to remove.

is this correct.
