Default Convertible top boot 1st install

Weather got nice here in Columbus, OH. Took took my S2K out of storage to drive and put the top down. A little chilly, 50 degrees but with the heater on, not so bad.

I went to put the boot on to see what it looks like and it was such a pain in the a#*. Took me about 15 min. The two snaps behind the seats were a pain and did not line up. It seems that the final shape of the boot is created after you install it the 1st time. Does any one else find this a pain also. It looks great but was wondering how many of you really use it or does it go on the shelf in the garage.

BTW, that little wind deflector barely does a thing in my opinion.

I just leave the boot on my car all the time, so it's not a hassle at all.

It's always awkward to install, but I can get mine on in about two minutes now. The trick is to get everything lined up, install the two snaps on the straps that go into the interior, then put the two middle snaps in place before doing the final two.

I left my boot off for the first year or so, but after seeing how dirty the inside of some tops were after leaving the boot off, I decided to keep it installed as much as possible. My car isn't a daily driver, so most of the time it's either in my garage (usually with the cover on) or I'm driving it. I usually don't bother putting the top up when it's parked because I don't leave anything in it worth stealing and don't park it outside in bad weather.

As for the wind deflector, the Mingster Aeroscreen is much better than the little one that came stock the year after my car was built.

Poor design and an incredible inconvenience not having an auto-boot like Boxster or MR2. But it looks terrible top down without it. Gets easier each time you put on. Mine takes just a minute to install now.

I'll admit it. I've never used the damn thing. Its too much of a pain. Its not even at my townhouse, It sits in my parents garage!

Our weather in Florida is too quirky with rain at any time!

it takes me about 2 minutes to put on the boot now,. i definitely recommend putting it on evertime you have the top down. it will protect from the dirt and from the sun wear.

Its not worth the hassle. I only put it on if there is no forecast of bad weather for a week or more.

Some folks refer to it as the tonneau cover. It covers the top mechanism when the roof is lowered. It gives a nice finish to the area directly behind the seats; however, it is a minor pain to install and remove on the S.

But you do not have to use it do you....one of the main reasons for me swapping over is the ease of the roof ?????
