Default Convertible top keeps getting stuck!

Hi everyone. I have had my 2007 S2K for about half a year now. Everything is great except the top doesn't always go all the way down.

During the cold mornings, when I open the top, I realize that it goes down only to 80% of it's full travel and seems to get stuck (if i touch under the latches, I can tell there is no more clearence for the top to go down any more). So I put the top up and move it down again (still stuck, but goes down to maybe 85%). I repeat this a few times and finally can get the top all the way down.

I don't see what is causing this problem in the morning and not during the warmer days. I searched and searched and haven't found anyone with this problem. I took this to Honda during the warmer afternoons, and could NEVER repeat the problem. (bummer)

I thought my straps were bad, I bought modifry's convertible fix, installed it; and still have the same problem.

If anyone can help me or explain what is going on, I'd be so happy!

Thanks,
David

I guess I could say its normal on cold weather or temp. It doesnt happen to me often(1x/wk) but sometimes in the morning just like you, mine will not go all the way down but only about 80-90%. Heres a few reason for that from my experience.
1. Cold weather temp gets the top cold which makes it hard and will not fold all the way down.
2. Sometimes the creases of the top will not fold right, making it stuck because of extra folds on top of other folds of the top. hehe

It could be other things as well but what I mentioned is what happens to me.

try putting the top down ~70% (say 1 foot from being all the way down), then stop, and push the roof cross member that is closest to you away (towards the rear of the car). It could be that this is getting stuck with the cold temperatures. I know I had trouble getting the tonneau on until I realized that this bar was causing the roof to not go down all the way (only 95% or so).

yeah... i noticed this too when i went to the fusion meet in SD.
i noticed that everyone's top went down a lit further than i thought mine did.

my solution was to move it up and down until it went down to what i thought looked like a good level. i did this on a couple different start-ups. after those couple bouts with the top, it now goes down without me having to move it up and down.

i almost never used my top, until i came down here to SD where i like to enjoy the night air... and maybe even the sunshine once in awhile. ;p

You might want to check out Modifry.com, it happened to me awhile back 'til I'd got the convertible top fix that I'd bought from Modifry.com.

Be careful. My top tore. The problem with mine was that the rearmost stretcher bar was not coming all the way forward. I stop the top about 50% and make sure the bar comes forward now.

If you have an 07 why wouldn't you go back to the dealer unless you're already past your miles on the warranty. I'm not a fan of dealerships but I'd rather have it fixed and noted under warranty then messing it with myself.

I have an '07 and it does the same. This is when the temperature is around 50 degrees.
