If you have an 07 why wouldn't you go back to the dealer unless you're already past your miles on the warranty. I'm not a fan of dealerships but I'd rather have it fixed and noted under warranty then messing it with myself.
I did go back. It only happens in cold weather in the morning, so I could never demonstrate it at the dealer, it's such a bummer.

But now I feel better knowing that this is common in S2K; I thought I had a lemon.
I will try the suggestions you guys gave me, I'll post updates later this week.

Thanks,

You might want to check out Modifry.com, it happened to me awhile back 'til I'd got the convertible top fix that I'd bought from Modifry.com.
Thanks, but even after the modifry fix, I still had the problem =( maybe mine is really a lemon!

Be careful. My top tore. The problem with mine was that the rearmost stretcher bar was not coming all the way forward. I stop the top about 50% and make sure the bar comes forward now.
Thanks for the tip, I ripped my top the first week I had the car. They (honda dealer) replaced the roof, and it hasn't gotten ripped again. I was hoping that it would either stop getting stuck or just rip again so that they know something is wrong with the convertible frame.

the tops on the s2000s are made from POLYVINYL...not canvas. polyvinyl tends to be a bit more pliable in warm weather hence giving little to no resistance when retracted therefore you top going down all the way. cold weather does the opposite

Yeah, I just had the same thing happen to me, the latch pinched the roof because the forward most bar was not getting pulled back by the elastic bands.

You should fix how the roof is folding or suffer the same fate as we did

This has happenned a couple of times to my '07 as well...in colder temps. I figured out that it wasn't creasing correctly as it went down. From owning other verts, tops sometimes need to break-in (like a baseball glove) and form their natural creases. Once this happens, the binding shouldn't occur anymore.

Thumbs up

Does the manual state to not lower the top under a given temperature?

Reason I ask is, I have the extended 100k mile warranty, almost at 100k, and I have a couple of tiny holes above my head from this very problem (I guess that bar didn't go back all the way in the cold so it put pressure on the vinyl). The holes are small and rain water does not get in yet but it probably will get larger over time and may be a problem in the future.

Can the top be replaced under the extended warranty?

I think they count the roof fabric as a wear item. With a 2003, you'll have a tough sell, but you might be able to get them to goodwill a repair.

Anything under 50 degrees is going to be rough on the top. Also, give the Modifry straps a try. Those really helped me.
