Convertibles suck...
Okay... I've been thinking about a new s2k for a long time and about a month or so ago I test drove a WRX. Although it felt a little soft in the turns, it definitely has go power. So I started thinking about how the s2k doesn't really pull that hard... and how the STi suspension will probably be a lot better than what's in the WRX.... and now I'm thinking, for a little more money... I get a lot more go with a scooby doo...
Now I used to have an ITR so I know the thrill of vtec and it's great when you're in it... but when you're not... it's a yugo! So who cares about straight line speed right? Not me... Well why did honda cut the top off this car? I may be the minority in saying this but convertibles suck. Visibility = crap. AND they invariably require more weight to keep things stable and well, not rolling over. (i could be wrong about adding more weight to it... but that doesn't change the fact that my 18 year old mr2 is lighter than an s2k.... ugh) Then there's the gauge cluster.... err... yeah... well I hope I can get used to it.
Anyway, beyond all that, what I'm concerned with is how it drives. The STi is said to have 300 lbs/ft of torque.... and we're not talking about good o'l US of A torque, we're talking about AWD controllability here. Plus, the suspension is probably going to be quite good... so I'm afraid if I go with an S2k, I might regret it... Prove me wrong.

This thread is such a waste.
If you just want straight line speed, go get a Camaro. The S2000 is great as a convertible and if you don't like it that way, buy yourself a hardtop. If that still won't satisfy you, well, don't buy the damn car.
The S2000 is a fantastic handling car. Take a trip onto some nice mountain twisties and the S2000 will be your one and only love.
Of course, that's my opinion and I know that you expect alot of this as this is an S2000 community.
