Convince me to buy a S2000 (long)
You do need to drive it hard to truly appreciate it. That doesn't mean that you should drive it hard every day... but when you test it, you won't get the feeling of the car if you don't hit VTEC.
Though I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how well it handles.
The only things I would really caution you about are the stereo and room to put your 'stuff'.

Drive it, and let the car sell you or not. I was a bit hesitant to buy one, but now that I have it, it is arguably the funnest car I have owned.
I am not financially challenged and could have purchased a very expensive sports car but am quite happy with my "cheap" Honda.

I also have a 1998 Jetta GLX VR6 that I'm trying to sell, but I'm starting to rethink that. I might use the S as a daily driver during the Summer... and use a sedan for colder weather.
I agree. If you want a work of art for the garage, by a Ferrari or a vintage Lotus. This is a Honda. Yes, it's nice, and it's fun, but it's not rare, or particularly valuable. It's a relatively cheap, easy to purchase, fun-as-hell, sports car.
I bought mine with the express idea of using it as a daily driver, and have retired my Range Rover from that duty. I've also re-adopted my minimalist attitude. If it doesn't fit in the car, I don't need it. Everything I need, fits in my car. Period.
I just took the car on a weekend jaunt to the beach. You know what, I packed more lightly, spent less money, and had a lot more fun.
Think about this, Navy men who work on submarines have the entire contents of their lives in one footlocker. Many men do 10+ years of sub duty, and everything they need for 6-10 months of touring, fits in a single footlocker. You can SUReLY survive a day, or a weekend with what fits in the trunk of the S2000.
Buying this vehicle was the best auto purchase I ever made. I am acutally happy I didn't get the 911 now.
