You can call me a schmuck when YOU have the balls to volunteer for a tour in hell...

and no it wasn't just for the money, I could cover all my debt and future expenses with my job.

I see that you live in WA... what have you done for your country?

Pretty much. My debt will be paid off pending return of tour... including the settlement and I will have about $15-20,000 waiting for me. I will be getting $1,200+ per month between drill pay, stipend and gi bill with zero debt beyond gas and car insurance so I am thinking of buying an s2000. And paying with cash, or close to.
Good luck to you. I hope it all works out. That's an awful lot to go through just to piss all your money away into a car. Have you looked in to how expensive insurance is for a single 22 year old with bad credit? It might roll your eyes back. Not to mention the high cost of maintenance on any of the cars you are considering. Although I imagine you can get some reasonable rates through the military.

Have you thought of saving most of the money for your future and maybe buying some low cost transportation with reasonable insurance rates until you get on your feet?

The s2000 has alot bigger trunk compared to alot of other convertible 2 seaters, the soft top takes up barley any space leaving more room for trunk space

I have to agree. The wife and I travelled for a week in the car including clothes, car wash supplies and a cooler. Still have the spare tire too. Taking out the tool kit container and wrapping the tools in a towel inside the spare adds some room too.

i dd mine as well, but out here in AZ where all the roads are flat and the weather is always nice it almost makes sense to just drive a small car around. plus, we all know that token friend that has a truck who gets hit up everytime someone needs to move =P just buy him dinner...

I don't consider it coping at all.

Is the S2000 impractical? Yeah. So what? The way I look at it, I have a car that provides ridiculous driver enjoyment. I'm not coping, I'd enjoying. If "coping" is the best description, then I'm tempted to say this isn't the right car.

Normally, I ride my bike, take the bus, or get rides from people anyways. If I'd gotten another car, 1) it wouldn't put the same smile on my face 2) I'd still need my Dad's pickup or my friend's bronco for anything big.

i really lke my S too. i have absolutely no complaints about the car. Except for the backseats thing. i really thought that it wouldnt get on my nerves having a car with no backseats but its honestly kind of gettting to me. i say get one if you REALLY dont want backseats. that means you cant drive your car to the beach with 2 of your friends or somthing like that..

True, but on the same token, you can only take the girl to dinner, not the girl and her third wheel friend.
