Corrosion under the hood and in the trunk on a prospective S2K.

Flood damage. Also check the under carriage, it might be completely rusted. I saw some S2000 in some used car dealerships in California and many had rust in the engine bay and the under carriage. I guess they bought some cheap out of state cars and trying to flip for a profit since s2000 sell for more in CA.

I've had a Hurricane Sandy flooded s2000 and its engine bay was cleaner then this. I'm assuming the difference is one was exposed to salt for a few hours versus many weekends.
I can't tell you to buy it or pass since I don't know how good of a deal you're getting but generally it's good to avoid cars with corrosion if you're planning to keep it for 5+ years. If you do end up buying it, buy marine 6-56 and put the car on stands. Spray the whole undercarriage and the engine bay with it and it'll do fine.

That is just salt corrosion and I believe people in this thread are being a little harsh. Yes salt does seize parts up especially bushings however every car I have ever driven I have put through Canadian Salted winters and they are fine. The engine bay stuff you posted looks primarily cosmetic and I would not let that throw you off completely. See if you can negotiate a better deal because of it.
Obviously if you are not planning on winter driving the car it would be better to find one that did not see salt but what you showed above is not a reason to exclude a car entirely.

That is not uncommon for vehicles that are located near salt water oceans, you see that along the coast in places like Florida, the connection to beach sand and weekends at the beach makes sense. What you are seeing is not terrible corrosion, it tends to affect things like clamps and bolts first. The corrosion in the trunk could be from a water leak, that is a source of leakage on some S2000's, I would worry about that more than the surface rust in the engine bay.
If I lived in a coastal area I'd coat the bolts and clamps with protective spray once and a while, I think Amsoil makes a product that is designed for that.
